The Escoles COR Blanquinegre project is one of the main projects run by the VCF Foundation, as part of the club’s commitment to work in the community. Operating since October of 2015, it currently has a presence in 45 schools and childcare centres, with weekly or bi-weekly training sessions led by Valencia CF coaches. The objective is to help the more than 3,000 underage children -most of them in Primary Education- improving their day-to-day lives both at school and in social, family and personal settings.
The COR Blanquinegre project has also found a home at the Antoni Asunción Hernández Penitentiary Centre and Villena Penitentiary Centre in Valencia, where for three years they have run two schools, with inmates undertaking weekly training sessions.
Earlier this year, members of the project were brought the Copa del Rey, won by Valencia CF in 2019, for a photo opportunity, and they spoke with VCF Media about how important the work done by the club is.
José Luis Zaragosí, Patron of the VCF Foundation said that “The social and charitable side of the VCF Foundation is fundamental. It's what it revolves around.
“It's fundamental to them that we try to transmit values, that they work as a team and that they show solidarity. It's what sport transmits -football, in this case. We work with people with difficulties, and try to make sure that their future is better. We want them to leave here trained and with values instilled. If they want it, then they will have hopes for better lives.”
